Community: Spreading Some Love

The Honorable Bishop C. M. Bailey, Leader

On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, The Madison Starlettes of Charlotte Mission, Washington, DC delivered 547 non-perishable food items to SOME: So Others Might Eat. SOME is a local organization that helps to feed and offer social and health services to the poor and homeless in the Nation’s Capital.

The project began on Sunday, November 6, 2016, when the Adult Component of the Madison Starlettes of Charlotte Mission spearheaded a decoration project for the Junior Team. The decoration project was the initiation of their Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Junior Team, ranging in ages from 3 to 18 years, busily wrapped boxes and decorated them with autumn, Thanksgiving, and food drive décor.

The purpose of the project was to provide assistance to those who are in need of a helping hand and demonstrate to the Junior Team the importance of extending kindness others. Furthermore, this project was developed to train the Junior Team to be good citizens in their community.  The deadline for the project was set for Tuesday, November 22, 2016. The Madison Starlettes went to work informing family, friends, and co-workers of the outreach project.

Day by day the collection items abounded as many members and friends supported the Madison Starlettes’ humanitarian and benevolent efforts. As the word of the outreach project grew, many members from God’s White House reached out to their auxiliaries, families, friends, and co-workers for support. By Sunday, November 20, 2016 the inventory count was nearing 200 donated food items. By Tuesday, November 22, 2016, over 300 more items had been donated to the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

The Madison Starlettes wish to thank all those who helped to make this outreach project a success!
